Introducing New Grade-Specific Study Skills Workshops

Are you struggling with lining up items in your daily planner and preparing for tests, quizzes, and homework?

The 2017-2018 MBMS PTA has teamed up with the pros at Study Hut Tutoring to bring you a first-of-its-kind, tailored, grade-level specific workshop to help students with a game-plan for excelling in each subject. These workshops will take place before school on Late Start Wednesdays, from 8-9AM in Room 109. (They do not replace the free Study Hut tutoring sessions on Wednesday mornings in Room 126, which will continue.)

During these 1-hour sessions, students will have the opportunity to work in small groups to learn the specific skills to plan, prepare, and execute their planners for tests, quizzes, and homework.

* 6th GRADE SESSIONS: 8-9AM on 10/4, 10/24, 11/15; $165
* 7th GRADE SESSIONS: 8-9AM on 10/11, 11/1, 11/29, 12/13; $195
* 8TH GRADE SESSIONS: 8-9AM on 10/18, 11/8, 12/6, 12/13; $195

Top 5 ways parents can empower their middle-schoolers:
1) Establish a firm grade point average goal for the semester
2) Ensure students enter homeworks & tasks in a written daily planner Sunday through Thursday
3) Enter tests and quizzes in the planner on the day they will occur
4) Begin your study gameplan 3-5 days before a test or quiz
5) Flashcards and practice tests are the best ways to prepare for tests/quizzes; assign these 20 minute drills to the days leading up to the next test.
