Sports & Clubs

MBMS students may participate in an after-school sports league with several of the middle schools in the area. Participating districts may include Manhattan Beach Unified School District, Redondo Beach Unified School District, Wiseburn School District, Hermosa Beach School District, El Segundo Unified School District, Palos Verdes Unified School District, and Chadwick School. Sports vary from trimester to trimester and have included volleyball, basketball, softball, flag football, track and field, cross-country, and soccer. Half of the games are played “away” at the other middle schools, and half of the games are hosted on our school campus. Some sports may include tryouts as well as a suggested participation donation to cover various costs including transportation, equipment, instruction, and scholarships. Students currently placed on any type of probation may not participate.  Please contact Ms. Michelle Luke for any questions re MBMS Sports.

Most clubs meet one day a week from 3:10 - 4:10 p.m. on the MBMS campus. Some clubs may be offered before school or during lunch, but most take place after school. Clubs are open to all students. Clubs may vary from trimester to trimester and have included homework club (where students can have a quiet place to study and/or receive help with assignments from a teacher), art club, applied technology club, computer club, ambassador club, and gamers’ enthusiast league (GEL). Topics for clubs change throughout the school year. Information regarding specific clubs is announced in the daily bulletin and is occasionally included in the Wednesday packet. The ambassador club is comprised of sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students who donate their time, talent, and creativity to the school and community. Members of this club design, plan, and implement school activities such as lunch activities and the weekly student lottery.

Please see the SPORTS & CLUBS tab under STUDENTS for more information on both of these topics.
